An AI receptionist for Brisbane, on Queensland time

Queensland keeps its clocks still while the southern states change theirs, and storm season can fill your phone in an afternoon. The AI receptionist we set up for you answers straight away, books in Brisbane time all year, and flags the jobs that can't wait.

Queensland time, all year round

Queensland doesn't observe daylight saving. While the southern states are on it, from early October to early April, Brisbane is an hour behind Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Hobart. The rest of the year it matches them.

  • We set your calendar and receptionist to Brisbane time specifically, not Sydney time. Pick the wrong one and summer bookings land an hour out.
  • Take jobs over the border? Tweed Heads is in New South Wales and changes its clocks, while Coolangatta next door doesn't. We can add a line so the receptionist says "Queensland time" when it confirms a booking.
  • Perth doesn't change its clocks either, so OP Digital is two hours behind you all year, and we book set-up calls to suit your day, not ours.
  • Set-up, your sign-off on the script and any later changes are all handled remotely.

Storm season, from the receptionist's side

When a storm comes through on a summer afternoon, the calls tend to start while you're still on the last job. Here's what it does with them.

  • Make-safe first

It asks whether the place can be secured, whether water is still getting in and whether anyone's hurt, and puts those jobs at the top of your email marked URGENT. If someone is hurt, it can tell them to ring 000 first, in words you approve.

  • Booked out? It says so

Once your free times are gone, it doesn't invent new ones. It tells the caller, takes their details and sends you the message, so you can ring back in the order that suits you.

  • Insurance questions

Some callers will ask whether you work with their insurer. It answers only with what you've approved, and can take the insurer and claim number if you want them in the summary.

  • The full list, every time

The tenth caller of the afternoon gets the same questions as the first, so each summary is complete when you sit down to work through them.

Long, hot summers and the after-work call

In a Brisbane summer, plenty of people only get round to ringing a business once they're home and the heat has eased off. That's often after you've finished for the day.

Your receptionist answers those calls the same way it answers at 10am: your questions, a free time from your Google or Outlook calendar, a confirmation text to the caller and an email summary to you. For work that gets busier in the heat, such as pools, pest control, cooling and electrical, the evening calls stop piling up in voicemail.

Questions owners ask

Does daylight saving affect bookings in Queensland?

Not if the calendar is set up properly. We set yours to Brisbane time, which never shifts, so a booking made in September and one made in December both land at the hour the caller agreed.

Can it book jobs over the border in New South Wales?

Yes. It books into your calendar in Brisbane time, and we can have it say "Queensland time" when it confirms, so a caller in Tweed Heads during daylight saving knows which hour you mean.

Are you based in Brisbane?

No. We're in Perth, which sits two hours behind Brisbane year-round. Everything is set up remotely, and our calls with you happen in your working hours.

Can I keep my 07 number?

Yes. Leave the 07 number or mobile where it is and divert it to the receptionist. Customers ring the number they already know, and their own number shows up in your summary.

What happens with an urgent storm job at night?

It answers, asks your make-safe questions, offers the first free time and marks the job URGENT in your email. We can also set it up to put urgent storm calls through to you, and we test that with you before launch.

Will it tell customers their insurance will cover the job?

No. It never makes promises you haven't approved. It can take the insurer's name and claim number, and tells the caller you'll be in touch about the rest.
