An AI receptionist for plumbers

A burst pipe won't wait for you to finish the job you're on, and neither will the caller. Your AI receptionist picks up on the first ring at any hour, asks whether the water's off, sorts urgent from routine and books the job into your calendar while you keep working.

The calls a plumbing business gets

Each kind of call gets its own questions, in the order your plumbers would ask them.

  • Burst pipes and leaks

First question: is the water still running? If it is, it reads your instructions for turning it off at the main, then takes the address and books or flags the job.

  • Blocked drains and sewers

Which fixtures are slow or gurgling, and is anything coming up through a grate outside or into the house? Overflowing sewage goes to the top of your summary.

  • Hot water out

Gas, electric, solar or heat pump, how old, and is it leaking or just cold? Repairs get a service slot; replacements get a quote visit.

  • Gas smells

Not something to book in. It reads your gas emergency script, points the caller to the gas emergency line, or 000 if anyone is in danger, and flags it for you.

  • Taps, toilets and routine work

Dripping taps, running cisterns, new fixtures. It books the next free slot that suits the caller and texts them the time.

"How do I turn the water off?"

It's the question that matters most on a burst-pipe call, so the receptionist gives your answer, in your words, before it asks for anything else.

  • For most houses, your line can point them to the stop tap beside the water meter, usually near the front of the property.
  • Units and townhouses can have their own isolation valve somewhere else, so your script can tell them to check with the building manager if they can't find it.
  • If the tap won't turn or they can't find it, it says what you've told it to and marks the call urgent.
  • For a leaking hot water system, your instructions for switching off its power or gas, if you want callers told that at all.

Gas smells: your emergency script, word for word

A gas leak is a safety call before it's a job. We load the wording you'd give a caller yourself and test it with you before launch.

  • Typical wording follows the energy safety regulator's advice: turn the gas off at the meter only if it's safe, put out any flames, leave light switches alone, open doors and windows and keep people away.
  • Then the emergency number on their gas bill, or 000 if there's a fire or anyone is in danger.
  • It isn't set up to judge whether a smell is safe. It takes the address and number and marks the call urgent for you.

Hot water replacement quotes, with the answers already in

Someone without hot water wants an answer today. It gathers what you'd ask, so your callback can start with options instead of questions.

Questions owners ask

Can an AI receptionist tell a burst pipe from a dripping tap?

Yes, by asking. It works from your urgent list, so a burst pipe, overflowing sewage or no water at all is marked urgent and a dripping tap goes into the next free slot. If the caller can't say, it treats the call as urgent and leaves the decision to you.

What does it say to someone who smells gas?

Your gas emergency script, which we load and test with you before launch. It points the caller to the gas emergency line, or 000 if anyone is in danger, and marks the call urgent. It doesn't book a gas smell in as an ordinary job.

Can it tell callers how to turn off their water?

Yes, using your instructions. For most houses that's the stop tap beside the water meter near the front of the property. Units can differ, and it says what you've told it to for those.

Can it book hot water replacement quotes?

Yes. It asks the type, size, age and location of the old system and whether it's leaking, then books a quote visit or a callback. If you price common replacements by phone, we can load a price script you've approved; without one it gives no figures.

Can it put urgent calls straight through to my mobile?

Yes. We can set it up so urgent jobs ring straight through to your mobile, tested with you on a real call before launch. Anything you'd rather not take live is flagged urgent in the emailed summary instead.

Is it only worth it for bigger plumbing companies?

No. Inbound calls are unlimited, and it suits one plumber under a sink as well as a team with an on-call roster. A bigger team just means more routing, such as urgent jobs to whoever is on call and quotes to the office.
